“My overall body of work connects personal narrative by weaving into the structure that already exists in folklore, fable, and myth. The narratives act as transportation to a universe that blends emotional experiences, fantasy, and culture to create a mythos that is harrowing yet alluring. Beautiful colors, vibrant palettes, emotional gestures, organic forms, and cathartic vulnerability embody the allure; while darker concepts, traumatic realities, and emotionally scarred characters illustrate the harrowed. Within these worlds the alluring aspects reveal optimism, hope and lateral thinking that exist within the human experience while acting as a form of enchantment. The harrowed presents internalized trauma seeking resolution, balance, and healing. With each body of work, I continue to build a Pantheon of characters that question the possibilities of transcendence from a legacy mired in pain and trauma.”
