The quiet, repetitive tasks of domesticity—folding laundry, washing dishes, tending to a home—take up a massive share of our lives. Though unglamorous, we march to the rhythm of these endless cycles. My work imbues daily burdens with magic and whimsy proportionate to their weight as lifelong rituals. Bright neon pigments in underlit settings give common objects a supernatural feel and ethereal glow. Reflective shiny surfaces further distort the familiar into the uncanny. A pan warps other dishware and the surrounding kitchen into a fluid jumble of color and shape. The radiant light of a laundry basket transforms a pile of spilled clothes into an unrecognizable, alien-like mass. When my laundry basket overflows, it weighs on me until it’s washed and put away; by the time this happens, I have more laundry to do—a never-ending cycle. My paintings honor the true scale of emotional energy dedicated to chores, memorializing domestic exhaustion in moments of wonder.
