As an emerging artist, my work discusses the blend between familiarity and the unfamiliar depicted in art as it ignites a reaction within the viewer that they struggle to identify. This identification is frustrating for humans to experience, as we typically desire answers to our questions. We, as a society, are obsessed with the why and find it difficult to sit with our own subconscious feelings. Visceral Feelings refers to the point where familiarity ends and uncertainty begins. My work is set out to embrace ambiguity and its relationship to abject art, emotions, and the subconscious that are all evoked through sculpture. I invite my audience to embrace the unfamiliar and to allow both beauty and oddity to coexist.
