This was my first major reworking of an older painting.
I had tried my hand at a St. Louis skyline many years ago, then set it aside because I wasn't happy with it. In September 2024, I pulled the canvas back out, scraped away some of the old paint, and started again on top of the original scene.
I fixed what I didn't like and let the sky develop into something much more textured and swirling. I especially like the way the new layers of paint built up over the old ones, creating three-dimensional areas of texture that make the scene feel alive.
