Influenced by a diverse study of painting, I use light as both a formal and metaphorical force. Rooted in personal experience, my work acknowledges the weight of darkness, yet chooses to confront it by becoming a beacon, illuminating urgency, presence, and possibility. My paintings act as a window into the African American historical narrative and the Black aesthetic, giving visibility to what is often unseen. Light becomes a means of identification, revealing invisible subject matter and layered histories. Each piece builds on the last, pushing me to explore how light can transform perception and deepen meaning.
