LAUREN DARLING'S 快赶走爱的寂寞

This piece was born from a sudden personal tragedy that had highly unusual circumstances. It was the most isolating experience of my life. The imagined landscape represents the instability, hostility, and isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic that clouded this traumatic loss.

My works are emotionally layered and deeply personal worlds produced first through rapid-fire sketches. Hundreds of iterations with motifs such as koi fish, mannequins, windmills, ceramics, and jellyfish have surfaced as symbols of the hardships I’ve carried. Deliberately ambiguous, my work utilizes acrylic, oil, gouache, and sculptural elements into vibrations that flow off the canvas and into the nervous system.
