Kina draws inspiration from Sub-Saharan adornment traditions, particularly jewelry practices rooted in Ghana. Its name, derived from Swahili meaning “deep,” reflects the rich, dark brown background that anchors the composition and evokes a sense of depth and grounding.
This one-of-a-kind reproduction art print is defined by its intricate texture and detailed linework. Each mark contributes to a layered visual language of adornment—echoing the significance of jewelry, hair, and self-styling across Black cultural expression. The hairstyles are treated as forms of adornment in themselves—carrying presence, care, and individuality.
ALL ARTWORK CURRENTLY ON EXHIBIT IN THE 14TH BIANNUAL EXHIBITION WILL STAY ON DISPLAY AFTER PURCHASE UNTIL OCTOBER 2026. Some exceptions on case-by-case basis. Shipping rates subject to change based on location and are the responsibility of the buyer. All sales are final.
