I have been concentrating on expressive mixed media figures and portraits of women. I’ve been on a fantastic journey, building pieces to express the intense emotions I’ve been wanting to let out, but couldn’t put into words. My portraits are layers of paint, papers, tattoos, ink and pencils and anything else that strikes a chord. I want the viewer to sift through them, to explore the story and emotions for themselves. Portraits have become an expressive way for me to push past the traditional and ask the viewer to see my beauty in the unconventional. I’ve worked on several murals in southern Illinois. My design was chosen, along with 9 others, for the Marion Mural project in 2022. I have been honored to be asked to help paint on several murals, where I’ve honed skills for large works.
