Creating art is my method of understanding the world and all of its endless fascinations. I attempt to portray my wonder of the natural world, and to contribute to the philosophical conversation on the sublime. As the sublime represents beauty, greatness, and terror, I am pulled toward love of the Earth and fear for its future. I question myself constantly: who am I, how am I different from anybody else, and can I do anything for the world? As an artist, I discover elements of my voice, scattered thoughts, dreams, and memories, and piece together a way to reach out to the world. Art is my escape from anxiety and chaos. My best work is created in a state of thoughtlessness, in which my mind is blissfully blank. I often draw with pencils, ink, and acrylic paint, but my preferred medium is watercolor. I choose watercolor because of its vibrancy, transparency, and its requirement of strong discipline.
