I am a Black neurodivergent artist and local of St. Louis. My art utilizes bright, vibrant colors and simple backgrounds to reflect the emotion of the piece. My subject matter usually fits into one of 2 categories: fun, cartoony faces or common pieces of my experience as a Black, femme, neurodivergent person. Of these are a painting of 5 tampons and a painting of a comb broken by kinky-coily hair. My art always serves to bring whimsy to life or awareness of my emotions and experiences which directly relates to my cyclical fluctuation between happiness/positivity and frustration and sadness.
At times my art can focus on specific experiences that marginalized groups relate to (such as the broken comb painting appealing to Black people, especially women or the tampon painting likely appealing more to people withe periods). Though my face paintings may be enjoyed by anyone, they use elements that specifically originate from my neurodivergence (such as neat outlines, bold colors, simple patterns, and whimsical features) and, as such, may especially speak to other neurodivergents.
Le Mona Lisa is a playful amalgamation of a Black woman and a lemon. She has well-known, underappreciated features such as full lips and a wide nose, and she has lesser-known features such as almond-shaped eyes. Her short hair in the form of a leaf is a testament to femininity existing in many forms.
