Like portals to a naturalistic refuge, my paintings depict bodies embedded in local flora, seeking connectivity, solace, and recognition. The body is presented in relationship to the natural world as a metaphor for caretaking, matrilineage, and the passage of time. Hands emerge from their surrounding foliage; communicating a variety of gestures that appear to be both hopeful and desperate. Reaching, they mimic the branches and root systems around them, proclaiming their need for nourishment.
