1419 Art is a collective of visual artists both emerging and established. Based in St. Louis, Missouri the collective aims to represent a diverse range of Artists. Our concept was born out of compassion for the difficulty of making a living as a visual artist. Often, it goes unrecognized that when Artists create they are shouldering the cost for all materials, marketing and time that goes into creating a piece. 1419 Art is unique in its structure; once the Artist provides their original artwork, the collective is able to incur all of the associated costs for creating, marketing, and shipping of the limited edition print while still putting the largest portion of the proceeds into the hands of the Artist. This allows for a passive income.

1419 Art chosen medium is print for many reasons. The first being accessibility to both the buyer and the creator. For the buyer, limited edition lithographs are a lower purchase price than the original and can be shown or stored in many different formats. For the creator, limited edition lithographs are a way to create more works of art, giving the possibility to create a more stable, recurring income. Print is also often used as a medium of social activism. It is a medium that can be used to accentuate the colors and boldness of the art evoking strong emotions from the viewer. As a collective we are interested in artwork that creates a dialogue and open conversation about the world around us.

1419 Art was named for two of the United States constitutional amendments. The fourteenth amendment granted citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States as well as provided citizens equal protection under the law. The nineteenth amendment brought forth women’s suffrage. Both amendments are close to the hearts of the founders of the collective. 1419 Art believes it is important to recognize the historical imbalance of equality in the art world and is dedicated to continuing to push boundaries and open doors of accessibility to all Artists. We use our networks, platform, business, and gallery experience to uplift the Artist and bring their works of art to as many viewers as possible. We believe that art has the power to change minds, attitudes, and social awareness. We hope you do too.
